By using RedPaint, you agree to the collection and use of your personal information as described in this Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, you should not use RedPaint.

  • The RedPaint mobile application.
  • Vendor dashboards.
  • Moderator tools.
  • Loyalty points and rewards features.
  • Advertising and campaign tools.
  • Push notifications.
  • Contact forms.
  • Support requests.
  • Any other RedPaint online services or platform features.

Together, these are referred to as RedPaint, the Platform, or the Services.

This Privacy Policy should be read together with:

2. Who We Are

In this Privacy Policy:

“RedPaint”, “we”, “us”, or “our” refers to RedPaint, its owners, affiliates, related entities, service providers, successors, assigns, and any legal entity through which RedPaint conducts business.

“You” or “your” refers to any person who uses RedPaint, including users, vendors, moderators, advertisers, business representatives, and website visitors.

“Personal Information” means information that identifies you or can reasonably be linked to you. This may include your name, contact details, device information, location data, account information, and platform activity.

3. Information We Collect

We collect information in different ways depending on how you use RedPaint.

3.1 Information You Provide to Us

We may collect information that you provide directly, including:

  • Name and surname.
  • Email address.
  • Phone number.
  • Gender.
  • Date of birth.
  • Password and account login details.
  • Business name and business details.
  • Vendor profile information.
  • Business descriptions.
  • Business categories.
  • Contact details.
  • Images, photos, menus, pricelists, offers, events, gifts, and rewards.
  • Reviews, ratings, comments, and other public contributions.
  • Support requests.
  • Survey responses.
  • Enquiries or messages sent through RedPaint.
  • Information submitted when applying to become a Moderator.
  • Information submitted when inviting friends or businesses to join RedPaint.

3.2 Information We Collect Automatically

When you use RedPaint, we may automatically collect certain technical and usage information, including:

  • IP address.
  • Device type.
  • Device identifiers.
  • Operating system.
  • Browser type.
  • App version.
  • Connection information.
  • Language settings.
  • Time zone.
  • Pages or screens viewed.
  • Features used.
  • Search queries.
  • Clicks, views, interactions, and time spent on features.
  • Error logs and crash data.
  • Push notification preferences.
  • App online or offline status.
  • Advertising and campaign interaction data.

This helps us operate, secure, improve, and personalise RedPaint.

3.3 Location Information

RedPaint is a location-based discovery and marketing platform. Location information is therefore important to how the app works.

Depending on your permissions, we may collect and process your device location, including GPS-based latitude and longitude.

We use location information to:

  • Show nearby vendors.
  • Update your feed with relevant businesses, offers, events, and rewards.
  • Enable proximity marketing.
  • Deliver relevant push notifications.
  • Allow vendors to target campaigns by location.
  • Improve the timing and relevance of promotions.
  • Improve app functionality and user experience.

Location data may be associated with your device ID, account, preferences, or other information we hold about you, where necessary to provide the Services.

4. Foreground and Background Location

RedPaint uses two types of location access.

4.1 Foreground Location

Foreground location means location access while you are actively using the app.

RedPaint requires foreground location access for the app to function properly. Without it, key features such as nearby vendor discovery, location-based feeds, and relevant real-time content may not work correctly.

Foreground location may be used to:

  • Show vendors near your current location.
  • Update your feed while you use the app.
  • Include you in relevant location-based campaigns.
  • Improve the accuracy of nearby offers, events, and rewards.

4.2 Background Location

Background location means location access when the app is not actively open or in use.

Background location is optional.

If you allow background location, RedPaint can update your approximate device location in the background so that you may receive relevant push notifications from vendors when you are near a selected area or business.

For example, if a restaurant sends an Instant Boost campaign to users nearby, you may receive a push notification because your location was updated in the background.

Background location is used to:

  • Deliver timely and relevant promotions.
  • Support real-time proximity marketing.
  • Help vendors reach users in selected target areas.
  • Improve the relevance of push notifications.

4.3 Location Privacy Assurance

RedPaint uses location information to improve your app experience and deliver relevant services.

RedPaint does not sell your location data to vendors or third parties.

RedPaint does not provide vendors with your personal location history.

Where background location is used, RedPaint stores your latest device location only for as long as necessary to provide the relevant location-based service, unless a longer period is required for security, legal, fraud-prevention, analytics, or operational purposes.

4.4 Managing Location Permissions

You control your location permissions.

You may allow, deny, or change location permissions through:

  • Your mobile device settings.
  • RedPaint app preferences, where available.
  • Push notification preferences, where available.

If you disable foreground location access, RedPaint may not function properly.

If you disable background location access, the app may still work, but real-time proximity notifications and certain location-based features may be less relevant or unavailable.

5. Information From Third Parties

We may receive information about you from third parties where permitted by law, including:

  • Social login providers, such as Google or Facebook, if you choose to sign in using those services.
  • Service providers.
  • Payment processors.
  • Analytics providers.
  • Marketing partners.
  • Public sources.
  • Business data providers.
  • Vendors or users who invite you to RedPaint.

If you connect RedPaint to a third-party account, we may collect information made available by that third party according to your settings and the third party’s own privacy policy.

Your use of third-party services is governed by those third parties’ own terms and privacy policies.

6. Inviting Friends or Businesses

RedPaint may allow you to invite friends, contacts, or businesses to join the Platform.

When you provide contact information for an invitation, we use that information only to process and deliver the invitation and related follow-up communications, where applicable.

You should only provide another person’s or business’s contact details if you have a lawful basis or permission to do so.

7. Messages and Communications

If you send or receive messages, enquiries, booking requests, support messages, or other communications through RedPaint, we may collect and store those communications to:

  • Deliver the message.
  • Help manage conversations.
  • Provide customer support.
  • Investigate misuse.
  • Enforce our Terms of Service.
  • Improve the Services.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

If you communicate by SMS or mobile network services, your mobile carrier may charge standard rates.

8. Payment Information

Certain RedPaint services may require payments, including vendor campaigns, Red Beans, advertising, or other paid features.

Payments may be processed by third-party payment providers, including PayFast in South Africa.

RedPaint does not collect or store your full credit card, debit card, or banking details where payments are processed directly by third-party payment providers.

Payment providers may collect and process information required to complete a transaction, including:

  • Name.
  • Email address.
  • Phone number.
  • Billing information.
  • Transaction details.
  • Fraud-prevention information.
  • Payment method information.

Your payment information is processed according to the payment provider’s own terms and privacy policy.

RedPaint may receive transaction-related information needed for accounting, billing, campaign activation, support, fraud prevention, and record keeping.

  • Understand how users interact with RedPaint.

You can usually control cookies through your browser or device settings.

If you disable cookies or similar technologies, some parts of RedPaint may not work properly.

Third-party services linked to or integrated with RedPaint may use their own cookies or tracking technologies. RedPaint does not control those third-party practices.

10. Analytics and Advertising

RedPaint may use analytics tools, including Google Analytics or similar services, to understand how users interact with the Platform.

Analytics may help us understand:

  • Which features are used most.
  • How users move through the app or website.
  • How campaigns and advertisements perform.
  • Where errors occur.
  • How we can improve RedPaint.

RedPaint may also use information to display or support relevant advertising and vendor campaigns.

Advertising on RedPaint may be based on:

  • Location.
  • Business categories.
  • User preferences.
  • Campaign settings.
  • Search activity.
  • App usage.
  • Interactions with content.
  • Other information permitted by law and this Privacy Policy.

RedPaint does not share your personal information directly with vendors for their own independent marketing unless you choose to provide that information to them yourself.

If you click on or interact with an advertisement or promotion, the advertiser or vendor may infer that you fall within the target audience selected for that campaign.

If RedPaint is involved in a merger, acquisition, restructuring, sale, transfer, financing, liquidation, or similar transaction, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

12.4 With Your Consent

We may share your information in other circumstances where you have given consent.

13. Information Shared With Vendors

RedPaint does not provide vendors with your personal information for their own independent marketing purposes.

When you interact with a vendor through RedPaint, the vendor may receive limited information needed for the relevant platform function.

For example:

  • If you redeem a reward, the vendor may see redemption-related information needed to process the reward.
  • If you contact a vendor directly, the vendor will receive the information you choose to provide.
  • If you call, email, visit, book with, or transact directly with a vendor, the vendor may collect information from you independently.

RedPaint does not control how vendors handle information you provide directly to them outside the RedPaint Platform.

You should contact the vendor directly if you want to understand its privacy practices.
